MELT COSMETICS: Prime Rose Collection

Hello, hello!

Today, I'm here to share a little about Melt Cosmetic's new lipstick collection! The Prime Rose Collection - Soft rose hues that will never wilt or fade.

The packaging the collection came in was their typical shipping box that was beautifully decorated with different rose images on a textured background.

The collection includes 5 new, matte shades. On-The-Go, Mum, Stepford, Old Fashioned, and Old Rose. They will be $19 apiece. If you purchase the collection at $65, each lipstick is $13.
These lipsticks are 4.05g/0.14oz. Oh, and they are VEGAN!

These colours are pretty different from Melt's usual bold style, but I'm ok with that. Sometime's its nice to have a somewhat neutral colour, especially when these neutrals aren't your average tone.

Swatches below! I tried to get these as accurate as possible.  I normally shoot in natural or white light, but that wasn't available when I show these, so I had to tweak the colour tone in camera to match what was on my arm.

I fell in love with Melt's bullet lipsticks the first time I tried one.  The formula was a littler harder than your average lipstick, but they go on heavily pigmented and stay on ALL day. I've only worn Stepford so far,  but it wears as beautifully as the other Melt lipsticks I own.  I put on Stepford at 08:00 and it is currently 21:27. Over 12 hours of wear and I have not retouched it or had me lips get all flaky and dry. Amazing.

Wearing Old-Fashioned and Old Rose for an ombré effect. I didn't have a rose handy, so a pinecone was my prop haha

These floral beauties launch Friday, 25 November, at midnight! Hoorah Black Friday sales and launches! And, if Melt's "pre" Black Friday sale was any show of what they have in store for us, it's going to be a great sale.  So get out your Christmas list and wallet and refresh your browser until midnight!

NEW Pretty Poison Collection from Sugarpill

I've been a Sugarpill customer since almost the beginning! My very first "real" makeup palettes were from Sugarpill and I've been a fan ever since. They recently re-released the adorable Trinket as a permanent shade along with Kim Chi's liquid lipstick. But, it seems like Amy and her team have been working forever on bullet lipsticks. I remember seeing Nurse forever ago on their Instagram and just dying for it to be released somewhere besides IMATS!

Many, many thanks to Sugarpill for gifting me these lipsticks. I am ever so thankful and I have so many ideas running through my head on what to do with these babies.  Those of you that have been following me for a while know I love just covering my face (and body) with makeup.

Introducing Sugarpill's Pretty Poison collection!  These are six unique shades that range from classic to unconventional in a long-wearing, hyper-pigmented matte formula with single-stroke coverage and a sweet creamsicle scent. These beauties launch this Monday, Nov 14, at noon PST.

Sugarpill has some of the most pigmented, buttery eyeshadows on the market, so why would their lipsticks be any different? These are very opaque and so smooth and buttery.  If you've played with a lot of brightly coloured lipsticks, you'll notice that the most vivid ones are always a little harder/more dry to apply or you need many, many coats to make them as bright as they look in the tube--these are not like that. One swipe and you have full colour.  They are easy to apply and don't feel drying at all. The creamsicle scent isn't overpowering.  In fact, it's hardly noticeable.

These beautiful lipsticks come in a little sugar pill tube that's covered in sparkles. Their net weight is 3.2 grams and they will cost $20 each or $120 for the bundle. They are also vegan and cruelty free!

Super sparkly packaging 😍

Now, for the swatches. These were swatched on dry, bare skin.  No primer or base was used.

From top to bottom:

NURSE: Rich, matte, true red with blue undertones.

CUBBY: Matte peachy-pink coral.

DETOX: Delicious, revitalizing orange. Very true-to-colour.

GIRL CRUSH: Vivid, matte fuchsia with blue undertones.

SPANK: Matte, deep blue-based violet.

U4EA: Super saturated, darkened matte teal.

If you'd like to see these on a darker skin tone, @makeupbykrishna swatched them on her page AND in Sugarpill's very FIRST Youtube video (Finally!) You can watch it down below or click through to their Youtube. Autumn and Krishna live swatch the lipsticks!

I'm super happy and very impressed with these and I can't wait to create looks with them! If you'd like to check these out yourself, you can purchase them on the 14th of November, at sugarpill.com

Darkly inspired candles with Burke & Hare Co

Burke & Hare Co is the perfect shop for those that crave something different and for those into the peculiar.
I first found out about Burke & Hare Co earlier this summer and I was instantly a fan.  Erica makes gorgeous pillar candles, body butters, wax melts, and has an amazing line of themed scented candles. From her etsy bio, she states that Burke & Hare Co is "heavily influenced by a penchant for the dark and dreary along with music of the sort, we strive to find beauty in superstitions, natural magic and the history of the occult."

My first candle from Burke & Hare Co was the full size Salem candle, a sample of Altar, and a travel of Santalum.
I immediately fell in love with Salem.  I've never loved the scent of a candle more. It was dark and mysterious.  I'd never smelled anything like it.

Not only are these candles the most beautifully scented candles on earth, they are also beautiful pieces to add to the home. The Darkwave collection that Altar and Salem are from are black candles in a black tumbler--not some unsightly glass jar that has a giant multicoloured image on it (I'm looking at you, Yankee Candle)

I used every last bit of these three candles and recently made another order. I picked up a second full size Salem candle and a sample of Cloves. I was delighted to see that Erica also included a sample of Lunacy and a tea light sample of Nevermore.

I find it rather difficult to order candles online because you never quite know what they are going to smell like--which is why I think it's brilliant that Bure & Hare Co offers sample candles--- you can try a scent or three for a low price and if you love it, go back for more.
I have not been disappointed by any of these scents so far. Every single one is so unique and with beautiful notes.  I'll go into detail of the notes for candles I have in a moment.

Before I get into the notes of the candles I own, I wanted to share some of the pillar candles that Erica sells on her site/Etsy. The pillar candles are unscented and run about 5.5-6 in tall and features things like Ouija board art, an article of witches, tarot, nature, and taxidermy. The are fully functional candles, but I'd honestly just want to use them as decoration. Pictured below are a few from her Etsy.

On to the candles that I own:

Salem, part of the Darkwave collection, has deep notes of patchouli dusted with balsamic resin with hits of black teas and jasmine florals. Deep and mysterious, black as midnight. It's seductive.

Altar, part of the Darkwave collection, is fragranced with the deep scent of blackened roses over dark red wines with a base note of must to warm the scent and notes of spicy wood to add to the complexity.  It's floral, but not overwhelming.  It's a sensual fragrance.

Cloves, part of the Darkwave collection, is dark and sultry with the scent of spicy cloves with a peppery undertone and a hint of darkened mandarin. This is a beautiful fragrance and one I would burn more in the fall/winter months.  It makes a gorgeous holiday candle.

Lunacy, part of the First collection, blends the calming fragrance of lavender and pure vanilla extract over hints of earthy patchouli. It's a soft and tranquil scent. The perfect candle for a relaxed atmosphere.

Nevermore, part of the First collection, is masculine and a bit seductive. Leather and tobacco intermingle with black tea and notes of spicy pepper and a subtle undertone of teakwood.

I highly recommend this shop and I'm certain you'll love any scent you try.  I can't wait to try more scents when I finish burning those that I have.

If you would like to check out Burke & Hare Co's products, you can find them on Etsy or Instagram.

Black Magic Lashes Review (NOW Rouge and Rogue)

Black Magic Lashes, now going by the name Rouge and Rogue, is a brand I found out about in January of this year. I fell in love with their branding and soon fell in love with their lashes.  **If you don't want to read the whole blog post, the coupon code is AYCARTER

I wish I would have taken better photos of my first pair of lashes from BML, but I was so eager to try them on, I didn't have a chance. I'll put the photo I posted on instagram below:

Lashes from left to right: Rogue, Wicked, and Vamp

Lashes from left to right: Rogue, Wicked, and Vamp

These lashes are made of 100% cruelty-free mink hair. Super soft and perfectly fluttery.  As beautiful as the lashes were, I was so mesmerized with the packaging I wasn't quite sure what to do with myself.  The three pair came in their own little box that contains a little paper fortune. The three pairs were then bundled up in black paper and sealed with wax.  Beautiful.

I've pretty much used these lashes until they could be used no more. In fact, I still use them.  I took great care of them, and aside from a little extra buildup on the band, there really isn't anything wrong with them.  I had a few hairs fall out on Wicked, but that was my own fault for grabbing the actual lash band instead of the glue when I was taking the adhesive off.  I've worn each one of these lashes at least 25 times.

Ok, on to the new lashes!
BML sent me 6 of their newest lashes. They recently launched two faux mink lines: Luxe Faux Mink and Faux Mink. Even though the real mink lashes are cruelty free, they were aware that some people still don't want to use anything derived from fur.

The new lashes came in the same beautiful packaging, just with a few changes.  The case has more of a tarot card feel to it and the back is now decorated with an orbuculum full of stars and a mystic's hands. Pictured below is what I posted to my Instagram feed:

Top Row (l to r) Riot, Paradox, & Raven | Bottom Row (l to r) Luminarra, Noctura, & Alpha Girl

I love these lashes.  My favourite pair so far for a basic, everyday look is actually Alpha Girl. I looove Riot. They remind me of Anime lashes.  Luminarra is perfectly fluttery and is so gorgeous for a dramatic and glitter eye.

Below are couple eye looks I've done so far with my new lashes. They are incredibly stunning and pretty comfortable.  The Faux Mink isn't as soft and comfy as the higher quality Mink lashes, but as a long time eyelash wearer, comfort doesn't really matter when it involves beautiful lashes.
